Can I place my item next to a heat source? We strongly recommend that you do not place your furniture next to a heat source such as a radiator or fire as this can adversely dry the timber causing the wood to shrink or bend.
-
Will my order be completely straight/flat?We use a mixture of new and reclaimed timber in all of our products. This means that the timber we use has had a varied and often hard life prior to being made into unique pieces of furniture. The boards we use will have a variety of man made and natural chips, dents, scratches, small holes, missing knots and may even be slightly warped or bent. We take every care with these pieces of timber to make the final product as straight as possible and work with any imperfections to either make a feature of them or blend them into the final product. As an extra safeguard we provide rubber feet protectors with our metal legged products and we also supply felt pads to attach to the bottoms of wooden/metal legs which can be used to flatten out any small imperfections.
-
What tolerances do you work to?We work hard to ensure that all of our quoted sizes are as accurate as possible but do please bear in mind when sizing up any orders that we work to tolerances in any direction of +/- 1cm and this includes any internal spaces such as shelves. Where any dimensions are within +/- 1cm of any quoted dimensions the unit is not considered as faulty and in this case would not be considered as suitable by us for return/refund.

Finishing wax coloursWe offer all of our products in 3 different finishing wax colours. These are: Clear/Natural Medium Brown (Rugger Brown - Fiddes colour chart) Dark Brown (Jacobean - Fiddes colour chart) These colours are taken from the Fiddes Furniture Wax colour chart. We can finish your item in any colour to suit from the Fiddes Furniture Wax colour chart (upon request, please state your alternative finishing wax colour in the comments on checkout and select any colour from the product listing drop downs) where our 3 standard colours are not suitable for your requirements.

Packaging informationWe aim to ensure that wherever possible we use the least amount of packaging materials possible to protect our packages in transit. During the current Covid-19 situation we are further attempting to re-use packaging materials wherever possible. This means that although your order will be very well protected in transit you may notice that we have used packaging materials which have been re-used and may even contain branding that is not ours. Please recycle all cardboard material so that we can further reduce our burden on the environment.
-
What timber do you use?We use a mixture of new and reclaimed timber in all of our products. All of our new and reclaimed timber is approximately 4.5cm thick and is C16 graded structural timber for increased strength and longevity. As a general rule the timber we use is European Whitewood, this can be a mix of either Silver Fir (Abies Alba) or Norway Spruce (Picea abies). All of our timber is either reclaimed or FSC certified. So you can rest assured that your order has come from forests that are sustainable and managed responsibly.

Online payments are temporarily unavailable! Why?From time to time we will temporarily turn online payment processing off on our website as a way for us to manage the flow of orders into our workshop. This allows us to offer a consistently high level of customer service and satisfaction. Usually online payment processing will be re-instated within 48hrs. If you find online payment processing is not available we would encourage you to contact us to discuss if we can still fit in your order without having to wait for our workshop to re-open to new orders.
